anti-handling fuse synonym

Definition Generic term for a variety of internal or external devices (attached to live mines or to dummy mines) designed to prevent mine clearance (whether manual defuzing or lifting).

Remark

It is part of, linked to, attached to or placed under the mine and it activates the mine when an attempt is made to tamper with or otherwise intentionally disturb the mine.

The category includes anti-disturbance devices (designed mostly against mine ploughs), anti-lift devices and anti-defuzing devices.

Under the definition of "antihandling device" in the Mine Ban Treaty, the following would be included:

anti-handling, anti-disturbance, anti-tilt circuits and fuses;

anti-lift and pressure-release circuits and pressure-release fuses;

tripwires, contact wires and breakwires;

tiltrod fuses;

magnetic influence fuses;

light-sensitive fuses;

cocked striker mechanisms in the firing chain;

motion sensitive fuses;

acoustic sensors;

infra-red (IR) sensors;

seismic sensors or vibration sensors;

electromagnetic sensors.

Definition Définition GEN 150: Un dispositif anti-manipulation (anti-relevage ou anti-perturbation) est destiné à protéger une mine et fait partie de celle-ci, est relié à celle-ci, attaché à celle-ci ou placé sous celle-ci, et qui se déclenche en cas de tentative de manipulation, de perturbation extérieure ou autre dérangement intentionnel de la mine.
