Definition Generic term for a variety of internal or external devices (attached to live mines or to dummy mines) designed to prevent mine clearance (whether manual defuzing or lifting).
Remark
It is part of, linked to, attached to or placed under the mine and it activates the mine when an attempt is made to tamper with or otherwise intentionally disturb the mine.

The category includes anti-disturbance devices (designed mostly against mine ploughs), anti-lift devices and anti-defuzing devices.

Under the definition of "antihandling device" in the Mine Ban Treaty, the following would be included:

anti-handling, anti-disturbance, anti-tilt circuits and fuses;

anti-lift and pressure-release circuits and pressure-release fuses;

tripwires, contact wires and breakwires;

tiltrod fuses;

magnetic influence fuses;

light-sensitive fuses;

cocked striker mechanisms in the firing chain;
